Background
Hiroshi’s family has been long enmeshed in a proud warrior heritage. His father was the Captain of a Starfleet vessel. His sister is a Tactical Officer second to none. How his life path diverged from the rest of his family, he would never know. Hiroshi followed the path of the scientist.

Perhaps it was his study of ikebana or even his meditations by the rock gardens, but Hiroshi became curious about the environment around him and how the facets of the environment interact.

When he was accepted into Starfleet Academy, he attended the Advanced Tactical School out of a sense of obligation to his family. He was an adequate tactician but his true love lay in the sciences of life. When he graduated, he did something that his family considered nearly scandalous. He requested assignment in the Science Department.

He was assigned to the planet Aldea, helping the natives get their ecosystem back together. He spent most of his time working with his incorrigible roommate, Ensign Hunter Grey, assigned to the planet as an archaeologist. He spent most of his time healing the damaged Aldean environment and keeping his partner, Hunter, out of trouble. He lost contact with his family.

This lasted one year before the Borg struck deep into Federation Space. His father was the Captain of the U.S.S. Kyushu. His sister was the relief Tactical Officer on the U.S.S. Endeavor. Both participated in the Battle of Wolf 359. His father went down with his ship. His sister, due to many actions of her own, was on the sole surviving vessel.

When news of his father’s death reached him, he was wracked with guilt. He should have been there. He should have done something. Although his family did not blame him, a lingering enmity began between he and his sister.

He requested transfer to a Starfleet vessel. A year later, his request was accepted and he received orders to become the Science Officer aboard the U.S.S. Hood (NCC-42296), an Excelsior-class Cruiser.

His time on Aldea left him with a case of myopia. This is countered by a daily dose of Retinox. For all his stoicism, he cannot help but feel resentment toward the Borg. He has taken an oath that he will never let his family down again.

Personality & Appearance
Hiroshi is an unassuming Japanese male of normal height and lanky build. He is a quiet man in his early twenties. When he approached, he is open and friendly. He is a scientist that came from a long line of great warriors. This combination often makes him the voice of reason in small groups. This hides his own inner turmoil. He approaches problems with a Zen-like detachment based on his core beliefs: Taoism and the Prime Directive. Deep down inside, he is an altruist to the core.
