Commendation: Preston Medal

The Preston Medal (Major Award, 6 Renown, 4 Discipline)
This award is made to cadets (often posthumously) who have evinced a degree of courage and dedication duty above and beyond that usually expected of a Starfleet officer. 

The award is named for cadet Peter Preston, nephew of the legendary Montgomery Scott, whose actions in the engineering department of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 during the Genesis crisis saved the ship and its complement during a reactor coolant leak. Preston died shortly afterwards due to coolant poisoning, but his actions have since been 
held up as an example to all other cadets.
