Background
Father - Ogami
Toshiro, Human (Japanese nationality), Swordmaster and Zen
Buddhist.
Mother - T'Rann, Vulcan, former Starfleet Science Officer, USS
Tycho Brahe
Dach's father traveled to Vulcan 'seeking enlightenment' and met and married Dach's mother there. He grew up on Vulcan, but his family grew apart as his parents racial differences began to show. When he was 30 years old his parents marriage ended and he returned to Earth with his father. Dach studied the Japanese suio style of fencing under his father, before being recruited to Starfleet Intelligence who sponsored him through the Academy.
After graduation his first tour of duty was to the Cardassian border where he was assigned to a remote listening post. He then returned for advanced training to Starfleet Intelligence Administration School, before his second tour which consisted of various postings to arrays in the Neutral Zone. During his posting to Facility 213 the base was sabotaged and Dach was injured and despite his injuries assisted in running repairs which prevented a 'blind spot' in Starfleet's monitoring ability. He was soon after promoted to Lieutenant, junior grade, but tired of the limits of a career in Intelligence Administration - this was worsened by listening in to a Starfleet Intelligence covert infiltration team's final minutes as they were hunted down on Romulus after a Tal Shiar trap. After his second tour he applied for a transfer to the Directorate of Operations.
This was accepted and after undertaking an advanced course at SI Operations school he was assigned to Romulan Counterintelligence. he was soon made Liason Officer to the V'Shar, through which he met his contact there, Kaylon (who is now part of the joint Starfleet Intelligence-V'Shar Romulan-Cardassian Task Force). They were part of the 'Operation Archangel' team, which revealed and captured Romulan saboteurs at Utopia Planitia. During the escort of one captured Tal Shiar Captain, Shu'Roc, their ship was attacked by a cloaked and modified cargo vessel which had been acting as back-up for the saboteurs, and Dach was badly injured as Shu'Roc escaped. After his recovery he worked at Romulan Desk but again requested a return to Operations, a move which halted his promotion to full lieutenant.
Romulan informants have revealed that Shu'Roc plans vengeance on
Dach and the members of his former team, so Starfleet Intelligence has moved him out
of the Romulan theatre and assigned him as Chief of Intelligence
aboard the newly-commissioned Intrepid-class starship, the U.S.S.
Orion.
His function there, as well as providing intelligence access for
the ship and gathering SIGINT on their travels, is to command an
experimental ship-based six-man standing Mission Team, designated
'Tau Omega', on a variety of missions assigned by Starfleet Intelligence.
Personality
& Appearance
Dach's oriental and Vulcan heritage are both obvious, and he
stands almost six feet tall, of average build, with blue eyes and
black hair worn long in the traditional Japanese ichomage
style. He also sports a moustache and goatee beard.
He has had little tutelage in Vulcan ways in the past decade, and
can often be irrational and unpredictable in comparison to
typical Vulcans as his human nature often prevails. His interest
in his Vulcan heritage was rekindled by Kaylon, however, and he
is currently seeking a Vulcan of greater skill to act as his
guide and mentor.
Dach has realized that his choice to transfer to Operations has been at the expense of promotions, but this did not trouble him until recently, as he enjoyed working against the Romulans, whom he views as a dangerous and challenging adversary. He has now re-evaluated his goals, and early experiences onboard the Orion have sparked a desire in him to command his own starship, an end he works towards whilst fulfilling his current duties.
One of his main interests is to undertake challenging holodeck simulations, usually of intricate situations from history where conflicts were won against the odds. One of his programs is a series of scenarios through which he acts out the traditional Japanese tale "Kozakure Okami" (Lone Wolf and Cub).

Author's
Notes
Dach is not your typical Vulcan, and lets his human side come out
quite often, especially in practical mission scenarios. His
Vulcan skills are suffering (thus his lowered Mind Meld) but will
likely improve with time if he discovers a suitable mentor to aid
him in rediscovering them.
