PERSONALITY
Peri is a very outgoing and fun-loving person, a bit shy at times but overall quick to enter a conversation and lend a comment. She has been out of Starfleet for several years (see Background) so until she becomes more comfortable with the current state of affairs she watches her step. She uses her empathic and telepathic talents frequently but never embarrassingly so to herself or others. Professionally she is quite skilled as a Counselor but has some discomfort with the large responsibilities that come with being the Chief Medical Officer as well. When speaking about her past, the reasons she left, and returned to, Starfleet, or Cardassians she becomes noticeably controlled and focused. She has a deep sense of hatred and resentment towards Cardassians, enough to challenge her Pacifistic tendencies.

BACKGROUND (SHORT VERSION)
Peri entered Starfleet as a promising Counselor-prospect but found that her talents allowed her to also pursue general medicine equally as well. She graduated Starfleet Academy and served with distinction on several tours, continually working on her medical background. Stationed at Starbase 221 for three years she had a passionate relationship with another Starfleet Officer, Tal Richards, that lasted for some time, until his death at the hands of the Cardassians. Grief-stricken, Peri resigned from Starfleet returning home to Betazed where she completed her medical degree and tried to put her life back together. Years later the Borg invaded Federation space and the battle of Wolf 359 took place, causing severe casualties in both manpower and ships. Peri was forcibly returned to active duty by Starfleet Command until they could rebuild the fleet. Qualified as a CMO and Ship's Counselor Peri serves aboard small to medium-vessels (currently the U.S.S. Valiant) attempting to put her past behind her and do her duty to the best of her ability.

Supervisor Comments
Trainee Sernia performed admirably, within the top 3 percentile of her class overall and as the senior graduate of the Medical program. I certify her training complete and that she be commissioned as an officer in Starfleet holding the rank of Lieutenant (j.g.).

Lt. Cmdr. Juliana T'Virin, M.D.,
Chief Medical Officer, Starbase 74

Tour 1
Length: Stardate 35732 – 37144

Position: Medical Support
Supervisor: Cmdr. Beverly Shorts, M.D., Chief Medical Officer

Duties
Assist in daily operation of sickbay facilities and duties as required; Assist Ship’s Counselor as required; Perform other duties as required.

Supervisor Comments
The lieutenant has been a valuable and productive member of the medical staff during her time aboard. Competent and well-liked, Lt. Sernia has worked closely with the Ship's Counselor and has achieved a rapport with many of the crew. Her medical knowledge and flexibility have been an asset to have.

During an Away Team assignment the shuttlecraft she was aboard experienced a system's failure, marooning her and two other crewmen for three days without gravity. As a result the lieutenant has experienced extreme fits of nausea in weightless environments and when exposed to relative motion.

Cmdr. Beverly Shorts, M.D.,
Chief Medical Officer, U.S.S. Bismarck, NCC-42311

Tour 2

Supervisor Comments
Lt. (j.g.) Sernia’s performance has been above reproach. She has demonstrated competence not only in her field of psychology but also in general medicine as well. Were it not for her obvious talent in dealing with others and gifts that make her a natural counselor she could very well pursue a career in general medicine. Lt. Sernia works well with her peers and is respected by the other medical personnel underneath her. She is very task-oriented and tackles problems quickly and efficiently, frequently seeking other’s input. Highly focused, she is prone to stick to a task until it is resolved, blocking out all others. She takes great care to put those around her at ease and is careful not to misuse her betazoid talents.

On Stardate 38720.5 Lt. Sernia was part of an Away Team mission on Oberan III to procure a natural-occurring vaccine from the local authorities. A splinter faction, falsely believing that our personnel were there to lend military assistance, attacked during negotiations and took several hostages, including a fellow Starfleet officer. The lieutenant quickly assessed the situation and depolarized what could have been a very heated exchange. She negotiated the release of the hostages and was instrumental in preventing the loss of any life. Because of her selfless actions she was awarded the Prantares Ribbon.

At the completion of this tour of duty I am recommending her promotion to the rank of full Lieutenant.

Lt. Cmdr. Ian Dorrin,
Ship's Counselor, U.S.S. Saratoga

Supervisor Comments
Peri's performance while at Starbase 221 has been outstanding. It is with heavy heart that I receive her Resignation of Commission despite my attempts to convince her otherwise. My understanding is that her resignation is due in some part to the recent loss of the U.S.S. Nelson.

Her presence and talents will be greatly missed.
