Background
Lieutenant Thoma comes from a long line of Starfleet officers. Two of her great-grandparents, Commanders Thelev and Thoma (for whom she is named), were chief engineer and chief of communications respectively, on the U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-1705-A. Her father, Commander Thelon, sponsored her to Starfleet Academy at age 17, where she excelled, beating out Cadet Joseph Garvin for first place in the class of 2264. She spent her Cadet Cruise on the U.S.S. Galaxy NX-70637, a Galaxy-class explorer, and her first regular duty tour on the U.S.S. T'Plana-Hath NCC-39827, an Oberth-class scout, where she spent seven years exploring the fringes of Federation space.

In 2272, she transferred to the U.S.S. Fionn MacCumhail (pronounced "Finn McCool") NCC-81948, a Sabre-class light cruiser. While on the MacCumhail, Thoma participated in the Battle for Deep Space Nine, the Federation's strike to re-take the Bajoran system and the Wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant. During the battle, her brilliant performance at the MacCumhail's helm resulted in the destruction of two Jem'Hadar warships, saving her old ship, the Galaxy, from destruction. For this she received the Grankite Order of Tactics, 2nd class.

Lieutenant Thoma is now the senior Flight Operations officer at Dyson Base, exploring the Dyson Sphere discovered by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D in 2269. As senior Flight Operations officer, a Department Head posting, she is pilot of the Danube-class runabout U.S.S. St. Lawrence NCC-72480, and oversees the operations of the other three runabouts and two shuttles assigned to the base.

Personality & Appearance
Thoma is a tall, slender woman with pale powder-blue skin and long snow-white hair. Thoma doesn't back down from a challenge, and tends to see herself as one of the Federation's protectors against its enemies. She chafes somewhat under her new non-combat assignment while a war rages in the Alpha Quadrant, but is determined to do her best.

She is fond of spicy food, having discovered the joys of Tex-Mex cuisine in San Francisco at a restaurant near the Academy. She jokingly opines that the main reason to retake Bajor was not the Wormhole but rather, Bajoran hasperat. She likes tales of valor and courage, from Beowulf to the legends of Kahless, and tends to recreate them in the Holodeck.

Author's Notes
Thoma would be appropriate as chief Conn officer on a starship. If the starship is involved in combat, she will fight fiercely and innovatevely, never giving the enemy quarter. If on an deep space exploration mission, she will be the exemplification of the phrase "to boldly go where no one has gone before." If she sees herself being kept away from what she sees as her duty to protect the Federation, she will feel frustrated.
