Bill Smith was orphaned at age 11 when his parents disappeared while on a business trip to Tarod IX. They are assumed to have been assimilated by the Borg. Bill was raised by his maternal grandmother, Vera de la Corte. He served his cadet cruise on the shakedown of the U.S.S. Regina NCC-77569, a new Sovereign-class starship. Dyson Base is his first tour of duty.

Personality & Appearance
Bill Smith is somewhat distant, the result of losing his parents while a child. He is an enthusiastic player of Parrises Squares, and plays regularly.
