Description and Notes
Fleet data: These ships were designed as "companion" vessels to the refit Constitution-class heavy cruisers.  The Belknap-class (CS 2501) strike cruisers were among the most versatile vessels in Starfleet service at the time of her commissioning.  A total of 28 vessels were constructed and - as testament to Starfleet engineering - many are still in active service.

Noteworthy vessels / service records / encounters: U.S.S. Belknap, prototype.
