Description and Notes
Fleet data:
This
atmosphere-capable ship was in some ways the forerunner of the B'rel- and
K'vort- class birds of prey. It resembles a stubby version of a D7 cruiser, with the same boom
and command pod appearance, but it is much smaller. The Klingon Defense Force used it as
a strike vessel, often operating them in groups of 3 to 6. Although a reasonably
successful design, it became obsolete by the 2300s. Most ships were given rather
mundane roles including patrol and training duties, though many warriors remained fond
of them. Later models were upgraded with the cloaking
device (shown in the statistics above).
Author's notes: This vessel is based on the D'rel-class design by Mateen Greenway (Wolfpak359). It would make a good setting for a small group in a Klingon campaign. Some older ships may have been pressed into service during the Klingon Civil War and the Dominion War.
