Description and Notes
Fleet data: The Saladin- class destroyer is a light, well- armed ship for mostly defensive purposes.  It features somewhat better weapons arcs than the average Starfleet ship, and is the heavier of two ship types built on the same basic spaceframe.  It mounts a single warp nacelle, mounted ventrally from the back of the saucer.

Noteworthy vessels / service records / encounters: U.S.S. Saladin, prototype; U.S.S. Ahriman, test bed for improved warp system used on Federation- class dreadnoughts (2257); U.S.S. Alaric, notable action in battle against Klingons around Organia (2267); U.S.S. El Cid, damaged in action against suspected Orion pirates (2253); U.S.S. Siva, lost near Romulan Neutral Zone (2269).
